In recent years, the cyber threat has been intensifying in Denmark, placing a special responsibility on companies delivering critical digital infrastructure to fend off hackers consistently. Denmark's largest provider of mobile and fiber networks, TDC NET, has taken this development seriously, rigorously pursuing a response aligned with high international standards. This effort has culminated in the prestigious certification from the organization 'Trusted Introducer'.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this certification from Trusted Introducer, which many in the field regard as the leading standard in the industry. Influential organizations like the Center for Cybersecurity and DKCERT also look to this standard. After months of intensive work, this certification is proof that we are well-prepared to counter the ever-growing cyber threats. Beyond the professional satisfaction of earning this recognition, this is about meeting the growing demand for strong cyber defenses from our customers, which we believe they should rightfully expect from us as a network provider,” says TDC NET’s Security Director, Karsten Brinkmann.
The well-considered response in a hectic situation
TDC NET's specialized Cyber Defense Center has earned the Trusted Introducer certification in the category of Incident Response. The center was evaluated across 45 different parameters in four categories: organization, staff, tools, and processes.
Ulla Elmquist Nielsen, Department Director and leader of the team, explains how the certification process has influenced their approach to handling cyberattacks:
“The auditor noted that we were already operating at a high maturity level, but there is no doubt that today we are even stronger in terms of processes and can respond faster thanks to a more structured approach to challenges. Time is often a critical factor when handling a cyberattack, and with solid processes in place, we can operate optimally even under the pressure of an attack on TDC NET, Nuuday, or DK-TV. While we still need to regularly train to keep our skills sharp, we now have the foundation in place and a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities within the team when a crisis arises.”
FACTS
- Trusted Introducer is an association for CSIRTs (Computer Security Incident Response Teams) established by European CERT in 2000. Its purpose is to create a secure framework for sharing cybersecurity knowledge among CSIRTs.
- This secure framework requires new members to be accredited by existing members before being admitted. Members gain access to best practices from a large international network of CSIRTs and can evaluate their maturity using the internationally recognized "Security Incident Management Maturity Model" (SIM3).
- TDC NET is the first telecom and fiber company in Denmark to achieve Trusted Introducer certification. Only one other Danish company, JN DATA (a supplier to the banking sector), has previously earned this certification.
- Several major companies and organizations focused on cyber defense, including the Center for Cybersecurity, prioritize Trusted Introducer standards. A full list of certified companies worldwide can be found on Trusted Introducer's Team Directory.
