Measurements conducted by the Danish Technological Institute once again show that TDC NET delivers Denmark’s best overall mobile network. Measurements conducted by the Danish Technological Institute once again show that TDC NET delivers Denmark’s best overall mobile network. In 2026, the Institute has for the first time also examined which network provides the best experience when you are on the move – and here, too, TDC NET comes out on top.

The connection has to work – whether we are streaming, working or travelling across the country. That is why the Danish Technological Institute has once again measured the mobile network experience throughout Denmark. For the 11th consecutive year, TDC NET’s mobile network ranks highest in the overall assessment of speed and reliability.

Measured both stationary and on the move

This year’s study differs from previous years. In addition to stationary measurements, the mobile network in 2026 has also been tested on the move, by car, on motorways, main roads and municipal roads – to better reflect how mobile networks are used in everyday life, where Danes often use their phones while travelling.

The measurements were carried out:

  • At 700 stationary measurement locations across Denmark

  • With nearly 16,000 starting points for mobile measurements

  • With an average of approximately 3,500 mobile measurements per telecom operator, covering download, upload and mobile voice calls

This provides a solid, nationwide picture of the mobile network experience – both when standing still and when on the move.

TDC NET ranks highest overall

The aggregated national results show that TDC NET performs best when stationary and mobile measurements are weighted equally:

  • 96 percent error-free mobile network experience nationwide
    (Norlys: 94 percent, Telenor: 93 percent, 3: 91 percent)

  • Faster and more reliable download and upload than the other mobile networks – especially in mobile measurements and in rural areas

  • Best access to 5G on motorways, main roads and municipal roads

  • 99.3 percent error-free video streaming nationwide, where differences between telecom operators are generally small

The study also shows that Denmark overall has mobile networks of very high quality and that competition is intense – placing high demands on continuous development and optimisation.

The people behind the mobile network

While the many figures alone tell a strong story, it is worth highlighting the people behind the results and their significant efforts. The title of Denmark’s best mobile network for the 11th consecutive year is secured by a team of specialists who work every day with a clear focus on maintaining and developing the network.

Mobile experts Henrik Christiansen and Lakhanpal Singh work continuously to optimise the mobile network, ensuring a stable, fast and robust connection – both in cities and in more sparsely populated areas.

At the same time, Christine Buhl, who has held the role of Strategic Senior Consultant, has been a key driving force in setting the direction for the measurement programme. She has ensured the link between technical insights and business value, and contributed to momentum and overview in a complex setup with many dependencies.

Susanne Berndt Kristensen has taken a commercial and communications-focused approach to the measurements, working purposefully to translate the technical results into tangible value for customers and partners. With a strong focus on turning network quality into clear messages, customer experiences and commercial relevance, the results have been brought all the way to market.

It is thanks to the interplay between technology, project management and commercial understanding that we are once again able to deliver – and document – Denmark’s best mobile network.

A mobile network in constant development

Mobile data traffic in Denmark continues to grow significantly – by around 20 percent per year. From the second half of 2023 to the second half of 2024 alone, traffic increased by 21.4 percent.

This places ever-increasing demands on capacity, stability and coverage – demands that TDC NET is continuously working to meet, ensuring that Danes can continue to rely on a strong mobile connection, no matter where in the country they are located.

FACT BOX - In the study, a good mobile network experience is defined by TDC NET as:

  • 30 seconds of error-free mobile voice calls (stationary) / 60 seconds (mobile) 30 seconds of error-free mobile voice calls (stationary) / 60 seconds (mobile)
  • 100 MB download within 60 seconds 100 MB download within 60 seconds
  • 100 MB upload within 110 seconds 100 MB upload within 110 seconds
  • 60 seconds of video streaming (DR TV) without buffering 60 seconds of video streaming (DR TV) without buffering

The measurements were carried out using 5G phones, with stationary and mobile measurements weighted equally.
